Help & advice

Too keep or not to keep - that is the question?

What are cookies?
autodotbiography, in common with all websites, uses cookies to provide its users a better experience of the site.  Cookies are small data files which are placed on your computer or other mobile or handheld device (such as smart ‘phones or ‘tablets’) as you browse this website.

These cookies allow us to distinguish you from other users of the website which helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and also allows us to improve our site.

They allow websites to store such things as user preferences. You can think of cookies as providing a "memory" for the website, enabling it to recognise a user, albeit anonymously, and respond appropriately.

Autodotbiography uses very few cookies, the ones we use are:

  • Auto login

this allows us to keep you logged in even if you go and make a cup of tea and the computer goes to sleep. Without it there is a danger that if you have left the computer whilst editing then that data will be lost.

With this cookie the auto login would automatically log you back in and continue any save action.

  • Affiliate tracking

If you have come to autodotbiography via a site that has a special discount this cookie will allow that site to know if you decide to buy an autodotbiography. It has a 30 day life span and then is automatically deleted.

  • Anonymous analytics

Every time a user visits our website, web analytics software provided by a third party generates an anonymous analytics cookie (i.e. it does not have any of your personal data such as you name and address). These cookies can tell us whether or not you have visited the site before. Your browser will tell us if you have these cookies, and if you don't, we generate new ones.

  • Facebook ‘like’ widget

This may use third party cookies for facebook.com, therefore until cookie preferences have been determined, the Facebook ‘like’ widget will be disabled. These cookies are not controlled by autodotbiography.

Accept or Reject?

If you wish you can explicitly accept autodotbiography's use of cookies or reject using the buttons below. If you continue to use the site we will assume that you have implicitally accepted the use of cookies. Alternatively you may wish to reject just some of the cookies in which case you should follow the instructions for the browser you are using below.

A word of warning - if you select the reject button your experience of the website will be diminished.

How do I disable cookies?
